Roopkund lake Trek is located in Uttarakhand in the Garhwal Himalayas region. This lake lies on the laps of the Mt. Trishul at an altitude of 16499 ft. This mysterious lake overwhelms the travelers with its history and numbers of stories. Roopkund lake is most known for the five hundred skeletons found on the bank of the lake is are distinctly visible. People believe that these are the skeletons of those heroes who would have fought there in the ancient times. As per the reports, these skeletons are said to belong to the 12th – 15th century, even the skeletal structures of the horses and other animals are also found in this lake.

Day-1: Kathgodam/Rishikesh – Lohajung

You will start your trip from Lohagunj. So on the first day you have to reach Lohagunj from Kathgodam so that you can start your trek on the next day.


Day-2: Lohajung – Didna Village

You have to start your trek from Lohagunj to Didina Village following a steady uphill trek through Lohagunj Pass which will eventually turn into a downhill trail to the Bedni River. You will have to cross the bridge over the Bedni river and passing through the forests of Oaks and Bamboos you will reach Didina Village. Then you will stay there for the night in the tents.


Day-3: Didna Village – Ali Bugyal

Get up early in the morning and get freshened up, have breakfast and leave the camp as you have to walk an ascend trek through the forests of oaks and bamboos. Garhwal Himalayan Ranges will not be left without admired by you. Then after reaching there look for camping ground as you have to spend the night their in the tents.


Day-4: Ali Bugyal – Ghora Lotani

Get up and leave for your next destination after having breakfast. This is going to be the easiest trek out of all, you may also spot a Himalayan Magpie if you have sharp eyes on your way to Ghora Lotani. You will do overnight camping after reaching there. This is the most eye pleasing and fascinating place along the Roopkund lake trek.


Day-5: Ghora Lotani – Bhagwabasa

Trek to Bhagwabasa is an ascending trek to the Roopkund lake the height will be increasing as you will be moving further, so better be ready to face challenges offered by high altitudes like the Passes are in zigzag manner and freezing cold winds. After reaching Bhagwabasa find a land to assemble your tents as you will have to do a night stay there

Day-6: Bhagwabasa – Roopkund Lake- Bedni Bugyal

On this day you will be trekking from Bhagwabasa to the Roopkund lake and then back to the base camp Bedni Bugyal. After reaching at the Roopkund lake you will have to trek for another half an hour Junar Gali and after exploring the nature’s beauty then you will head back to Bedni Bugyal witnessing the Garhwal Himalayas in full glory. Then you will be staying in Bedni Bugyal for that night.


Day-7: Bedni Bugyal - Lohajung (via Wan)

This will be the last day of your trek as you will start trekking back to Lohajung from where you started your trek experiencing the glimpse of Mt. Trishul from Bedni Bugyal. You will walk through steep descents and climbs through forests. After arriving at Wan you will have to take a ride to Lohajung and spend the night there.


Day-8: Drive from Lohajung – Kathgodam/Rishikesh

This will be your last day in the Himalayas and you will return back to your home with bunch of un a orgettable memories.
